Mansion Map and Rooms

Chapter 1 of Before Truth is a mansion investigation, not an open world. Players get lost because rooms look similar in the dark, not because the layout is huge. This map page names the spaces you actually search—kitchen, living room, washroom, bedrooms, vents, computer desk, and the path that later drops into the laboratory beat—so you can talk to co-op partners without pointing at “that hallway.”

You still play a detective on a missing mother-and-daughter case. David Johnson’s shadow and the stalker creature sit on top of this floor plan. Use How to survive before you treat every room as a sightseeing tour.

How to read this map

There is no official Eagle Studios minimap overlay. Treat this as a room glossary plus connection logic. Flashlight first. Open second drawers. Call room names the same way the kitchen paper does: Kitchen, Living Room, Washroom. Those three words are also digits—see Kitchen code.

If a teammate says “I’m in two,” they mean Living Room. If they say “washroom paper,” they mean the bathroom clue, not a promo list.

Ground-floor investigation loop

Entry and halls. Sweep walls for notes. Do not sprint. Corners with two exits are safer when the creature pathing spikes. Controls covers interaction range.

Living Room (digit 2). Papers, seating, and sightlines into adjacent halls. Good lookout post if someone else is on a pad. Bad place to stare down the stalker.

Kitchen (digit 1). The four-digit pad lives here. Do not type a friend’s screenshot. Convert your bathroom paper. Helper: Kitchen code helper. Broader pads: Puzzle codes.

Washroom / bathroom (digit 3). Open the second drawer for the room-order paper. Stay long enough to write the four names. Leaving early is how lobbies invent 1212 from memory and fail.

Upstairs, servant spaces, and keys

Bedrooms and servant rooms hide keys, notes, and the kind of props that look like flavor until they open a vent or a locked door. The servant’s bedroom key is a common search—treat it as an investigation pickup, not a shop item. Full inventory logic: Items.

When a door refuses you, ask which key the squad is holding before assuming a bug. Chapter 1 punishes skipped drawers more than it punishes slow walking.

Vents, computer, and letters

Vents are screwdriver territory. Do not drop into a vent during a chase unless you already know the exit. Computer desks print or display letter strings and longer digit jobs that players mislabel as “9-digit promo codes.” They are in-world puzzles. Dedicated page: Letter codes.

If a printout says to go downstairs, call it in chat, then move as a group. Split-squad computer work is how people get isolated with the creature.

Laboratory beat (end of the mansion chain)

The mansion investigation closes when evidence points underground. That is a story gate, not a separate open-world biome. Follow the Chapter 1 evidence order instead of hunting a hidden teleporter. Route: Chapter 1 walkthrough. Win framing: How to beat.

Spoilers about what the lab means belong on Ending explained and Characters.

Chapter 2 is not this floor plan

Chapter 2 continues the case in denser, asylum-leaning spaces. Do not import mansion room digits or kitchen orders. New building, new papers. Walkthrough: Chapter 2 walkthrough. Timeline: Chapter timeline. Chapter 3 is not a third floor of this house—Chapter 3 status.

Co-op callouts that save wipes

Online co-op, including larger Chapter 2 instances later, still benefits from mansion vocabulary:

  • “Paper in washroom second drawer.”
  • “Operator on kitchen pad.”
  • “Look away, living room hall.”
  • “Screwdriver before vents.”
  • “Letters from the computer, not Twitter.”

Roles: Co-op tips. Difficulty of rooms vs later chapter heat: Puzzle difficulty.

What this map is not

It is not a grid with meter-perfect coordinates. It is not a Trello board (there is no official Before Truth Trello). It is not a promo-code table. Fake “room unlock codes” lists belong with Promo codes.

Search checklist by room

Flashlight on · second drawers · papers photographed or spoken · keys assigned · vents only with the tool · computer letters copied in chat · kitchen digits from this lobby · no staring contests in doorways.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is there an official Before Truth map?

No published Eagle Studios minimap. Use this room glossary plus in-game flashlight exploration.

Which rooms matter for the kitchen code?

Kitchen=1, Living Room=2, Washroom=3. The order comes from the bathroom second-drawer paper.

Where are vents and the computer?

Vents need the screwdriver pickup. Computer letter and digit puzzles are in-world—see Letter codes, not promo lists.

Does Chapter 2 reuse this mansion?

No. Chapter 2 moves into later mystery / asylum-leaning spaces. Do not reuse kitchen digits.
